The Principal

As the first professionally trained and certified interior designer in Tanzania, Sandra has years of interior designing experience under her belt.

Sandra has an extensive career in designing and implementing various architectural as well as interior design projects. Her earlier design projects in Tanzania, while working for M D CONSULTANCY- architects, include IMMMA House, PPF Conference Centre, Kilimanjaro Kempinski Hotel and African Tulip Boutique Hotel Arusha.

Sandra, an interior design graduate from the Cape Peninsular University of Technology, Cape Town, South Africa is also is registered with the African Institute of Interior Design Professions (IID), South Africa as a Professional Interior Designer, an attestation of her competence, commitment, knowledge and professionalism. Sandra is also a member of the newly found Pan African Design Institute (PADI), South Africa; she is also registered with International Interior Design Association (IIDA) as Professional International Interior Designer.

As an accredited member of The South African Institute of the Interior Design Professions (IID) since 2016, Sandra has also been serving on the IID Management Committee since 2020, an honour that has provided and continues to provide humbling opportunities to give back. Serving on this platform has not only proved instrumental to Sandra’s growth as an interior designer, but also benefits others through her active participation in important conversations and the initiation of positive change.

While at university, Sandra acquired hands-on experience by tutoring other students and interning for a several prominent Cape Town firms, including Ken Design, Carl Coetzee & Associates, and Fine Design Consultants.

After completing her studies, Sandra worked for Ergoform PTY in Cape Town, creating products that conformed to the client’s corporate image. Projects she carried out while with Ergoform include BoE Bank, BKS, Potgieter Group, Medscheme, Novare, Ministry of Water Affairs and Swiss Re Abvest, where she acquired her first experience in space layout and designing office furniture.

While in South Africa, Sandra also worked for The Design Company. Her work there included executing projects for Woolworths and The Foschini Group’s @Home projects.

Sandra is also the acclaimed author of ‘The Rhythm of My Rhyme,’ (Andika Afrika – Tanzania, 2008), a collection of self-discovery poems. Her second book, ‘Stains on My Khanga,’ (Hadithi Media – SA, 2014), is a collection of short stories and poems, centered around the many and diverse challenges women face, every day.

With a strong affinity to the feminine voice, Sandra is passionate about the girl child as she recognizes her high level of vulnerability. She strongly believes that the education and empowerment of the girl child are strong engines that can be employed to drive positive change, for the betterment of our societies. As Sandra is a strong subscriber to the old adage, “Educate a woman, and you educate a village.”
